Several major cities across the nation are taking more pro-active steps toward eliminating inner city crime. We were able to talk to Mayors from several different cities to gather information about what these steps actually entail.
“Well it’s been a long time coming.” Said the mayor of Cincinnati while we spoke over the phone.
“We exhausted every option. No matter how many unarmed people we kill, there’s always another potential criminal we need to stop before things get out of hand.” After clearing his throat, he then told me of a plan to spray a fine mist throughout the city early in the morning, which would make potential criminals more docile.
“We needed maximum coverage with the smallest possible hit to our budget. Then things just sort of clicked, and we said, let’s gas the city.”
But before you start calling your local government, remember, large scale mist operations are paid for by your tax dollars. Basically you’ve already given consent to these operations by paying taxes. Of course we can expect some negative side effects, but long-term effects should end up being positive for communities. Updates will come in as we find out which cities are misting and when.
